I. Patient Badging & Identification

The solutions we represent give healthcare institutions the power to secure, support, and improve care for patients in their charge. A proven best practice to accomplish such a goal is to ID and then locate patients, staff and equipment at all times, and in turn automate a multitude of clinical tasks. The result: optimized workflow, improved patient care and streamlined processes that deliver competitive advantages and set a higher standard in healthcare.

The best of breed Real Time Location Solution (RTLS) is called Versus Advantage (tm) and it pioneered the concept of
automated patient flow in clinical environments since its inception in 1988. Today, hundreds of healthcare facilities have measurably strengthened performance in emergency department, clinic, operating room, asset management, nurse call, security, infection control and other information systems with the advantages of real-time locating and automation.

Not ready for the big-time? We offer an optional way to track with traditional Patient ID like bar-coded wrist bands and the uniquely powerful patient "1" card.

Patient Badging

By locating patients in real-time, Versus automates bed/exam room status based on patient location. You will know in real-time which rooms are available, occupied, dirty or in-process without any additional manual input. When a patient is discharged or moved to a new room, the room status automatically updates.

Versus Advantage™ solution also sends alerts to the appropriate personnel when certain events occur. For example, when a patient is discharged, Versus automatically alerts environmental services that the room is due for turnover.

Like typical manual bed management systems with Versus Advantages™ you'll see all rooms and special notations, such as whether a room is an isolation room or whether a bed in a divided room is for males or females. However, bed status will be automatically updated based on patient location and clinical workflow rules. In addition to the rules-based automation you will also have the ability to reserve and request rooms or mark rooms "unavailable", as needed.

Other benefits of Versus Advantages™ include knowing which:
  • Caregivers are assigned to rooms,
  • Patients are in the rooms,
  • Caregivers have been in the room with the patient and when, and
  • Equipment is in the patient room.

Emergency Department

Are you effectively managing patient flow in your Emergency Department (ED)? With Versus Advantages, you can monitor patient wait times, patient status and room status to route more patients through your ED in less time.

Keep track of patients: care status, assigned room vs. actual location, special needs, wait times, pending orders, etc. Then, automatically share this information with all staff via electronic whiteboards, alerts, dashboards or mobile devices. This will help ensure delivery of safer, timelier patient care, with real-time situational awareness to help prevent bottlenecks and reduce overcrowding.

Busy, sometimes chaotic EDs requires coordination of care and effective communication. When you and your staff know where to find patients, one another and equipment, you can eliminate time-consuming walking surveys, overhead paging, phone tag and interruptions, creating a calmer, quieter ED. With Versus, you can also automate certain mundane, oft-repeated tasks, like patient room assignments and caregiver assignments.

When hospitals choose Versus Advantages to help improve patient flow and operate efficiently, they experience:
  • Reduced wait times
  • Increased bed capacity
  • Increased patient safety
  • Increased patient satisfaction
  • Improved staff morale
  • Reduced staff turnover
  • Increased reimbursement
  • Fewer errors

Patient "1" Card = Loyalty, Efficiency, Ease of Admission

Patient Identification saves time and money. Positively identifying patients is critical to the success of any healthcare organization. If you are not ready for an automatic real-time patient location system or you simply want to enhance your connection to your clients with a patient loyally program, A well-designed patient ID "1" Card helps ensure that the patient receives the best care, acknowledgement for loyalty and medical compliance, and improved simplicity to admit. The "1" card patient ID creates new opportunities for offering better services to healthcare consumers.

Patient "1" cards have a huge impact on your healthcare organization including registration, financial services, and care. A Patient "1" card solution can help you enable your patients to register more quickly and easily, ensure billing accuracy, and help your staff effectively document patient care processes with less errors.

Make the most of your EHR solutions. Your hospital can offer a durable plastic patient "1" card that can be linked to an EHR system and make access to patient data easier. Meaningful use requirements are also touched by such technologies and these systems can integrate existing databases or create new data repositories using HL7 standards.

Admissions staff and clinicians can view a patient's information, including a patient photograph, from their PC workstation. Web-enabled identity information software can extend your patient identification information network to all locations across your healthcare enterprise. This on-demand access to information helps your staff provide the most accurate and well-informed patient care possible.

Machine readable technologies such as RFID, bar codes and smart cards can add "tap-n-go" efficiency to many processes in admitting, billing, pharmacy - even the point of care - that otherwise prove time-intensive and error-prone.

The patient care interface: The solutions approach to applying lean methods to interacting with patients. In this scenario admitting staff can use the patient identification card to call up the correct patient record every time with a simple "tap-n-go" card read, reducing the chance for duplicate medical record numbers and data entry errors. Nursing staff can print barcode labels, wristbands or personalized forms on demand, using that same identification card. By consolidating and automating the various systems you use for wristband, card and label issuance, and your staff will spend less time manually entering information and correcting errors. They will have more time to attend to other, more patient-critical tasks (direct care) and spending less operations time (in-direct care) on patient administration.

Technology that can grow with your vision. Staged, Modular, phased approaches to these and many other healthcare solutions allow you to prepare for the future without committing to one proprietary vendor, nor particular technology nor making a significant initial capital investment. No matter what stage or area you want to improve there are enhancement solutions with real ROI available now that can get you started. It is as easy as adding a basic patient "1" card solution, and add more advanced technologies such as real-time location systems (RTLS) as you automate more areas. Eventually, you might have your entire organization under a location plan gaining huge benefits in asset location, patient care improvement, and staff support.

The investment made now in your patient identification solution can be used forever as a focus on membership programs for specific patient groups like seniors or women's health programs. These membership management programs can help ensure patient loyalty and provide cost effective reporting and monitoring tools for your hospital marketing efforts.
